I first met up with Emma & Gary in London last year at the Scotch Malt Whisky Society and enjoyed lunch and drinks and we got to know each other a bit. I always find the photographs turn out better when you’ve had a chance to sit down with people. The more people know you and trust you the better the photographs will inevitably turn out. As I got to know them I found they were a fun and quirky couple with plenty of personality. I love photographing people with personality because they create moments and Emma and Gary created a plethora of them.

I started their day photographing Emma getting ready and she was looked stunning. She was in great spirits laughing with her friends and family. Shortly after we were in Mount Stuart for the ceremony. Mount Stuart is without a doubt my favorite venue to work; the staff couldn’t be better and the venue offers countless photographic opportunities. The ceremony was a lovely humanist event with a Buddhist twist.

Following the ceremony everyone enjoyed drinks and canapés. Gary had some warm and touching things to say in his speech and you could tell he’s a man that looks after his relationships. Emma also shared some lovely heartfelt words for her friends and family. The love they both had for their family and friends was obvious. I shuffled them outside for a bit for a few photographs. They were brilliant and laughing and showing affection towards one another.
The dancing soon started and it made for a brilliant celebration that went long into the night. It was a beautiful day and I was delighted to document it. I know the images can’t tell the whole story but hopefully they will give an idea of the love witnessed.
