Wedding Mount Stuart

Part 2 of Kirstie & Kieran’s wedding

Part 2 of Kirstie & Kieran’s wedding

A few Saturday’s ago I had the absolute pleasure of photographing Kirstie & Kieran’s spectacular wedding at Mount Stuart. I’ve gone to Mount Stuart a few times each year yet I discover something new each time ensuring it’s a place that will never get old. I started my day with Kirstie and her bridesmaids. I always find the bride and groom set the tone of the day based on their demeanor and everyone else simply follows their lead. Kirstie and her bridesmaids were one of the most jovial groups of ladies I’ve had the pleasure of photographing lead by the stunning bride.

Shortly thereafter I made my way up to the billiard room to find the Kieran and his groomsmen. The billiards room is one of my favorite rooms at Mount Stuart and I’m always keen to photographer it. The groom’s shoes went missing but all remained calm and in good spirits. All were truly gentlemen and as courteous as they could possibly be.

Back to the Horoscope room to find Kirstie in her dress and looking breathtaking. The buses were slightly delayed which meant I had extra time for bridal portraits. I found this extra time quite convenient to the point of considering whether it would be worth it to bribe future buses to always be late. Soon the wedding was underway and Kirstie was headed down the grand marble staircase and into the white marble chapel. The marble chapel is by far my favorite church I’ve ever photographed because of the combination of light and beauty. Most of the beautiful churches I’ve photographed are quite dark and the difference in the photographs are incredible.

The ceremony was over before we knew and they were married. I took group photographs with the help of an army of bridesmaids who made it go incredibly fast and smooth. The speeches were hilarious and had the room in stitches. Soon a delicious dinner was served by Hickory. After dinner, I managed to steal the bride and groom away before the amazing staff at Mount Stuart cleared the great hall for the dancing. The first dance was a lovely one where the couple kindly circled the whole dance floor allowing everyone to get close and take a photo. The dance floor had some real rock stars that kept the energy high throughout the night. Finished off taking a few photos of the gorgeous couple in the rain just before the last dance. The last dance is always one of my favorites to photograph and I love that the Great Hall at Mount Stuart allows me to capture the whole circle of friends and family from above. Auld Lang Syne was full of love and energy followed by emotional last dance where Kieran and his mum provided me with some beautiful moments to photograph.

The couple couldn’t have been more lovely to photograph as well gracious to their guests and me throughout their wedding day. It was an honor to be a part of their special day. xx

When I first met Roxana & Simone we got off to a rocky start and unlikely beginning as friends. We were on a plane from Rome to Edinburgh and she was sitting next me and said “Will you turn your phone off!!” as we were parked on the runway. I have a friend who is quite a nervous flyer and I suspected Roxana (I didn’t know her name yet) was as well. I turned off my phone and said “so you enjoy flying?” “No!” “I’m surprised,” I said. She laughed and I had a really nice conversation with her and Simone on our way to Edinburgh. I’ve since sent her photos of pilots sitting next to me on their phone while the plane is taking off but she doesn’t seem to appreciate it. Whatever your feelings about phones being used on planes the three of us became good friends due to our appreciation for photos and visuals in general.

Fast forward a few years and I had an amazing time photographing their wedding at the beautiful Prestonfield House in Edinburgh. Everyone was relaxed and in a great mood, it provided ample moments to photograph. It was a beautiful autumn day and the two of them were lots of fun and always laughing. It wasn’t your standard wedding and we got to take some silly photos as well I rather appreciated. Hopefully, the photos tell the story.
