Fun in the Sun: Kyla & Zac’s Wedding Part 1

Part 2 of Kyla & Zac’s wedding

Kyla and Zac’s beach wedding at the RUI resort in Cancun was a laid-back, sun-soaked celebration filled with love, laughter, and a whole lot of character. The couple, known for their easygoing nature and love for sleep, exchanged vows under the Mexican sun with family and friends and soon returned to freezing Edmonton temperatures.

Kyla and Zac brought their Canadian charm to the sandy shores of Cancun, creating a relaxed atmosphere that mirrored their personalities. The warmth of the Mexican sun was the perfect setting for their carefree and fun-loving wedding.

A huge thanks to Louis and Lydia, friends and former clients, for recommending us to Kyla and Zac. Was a delight spending a 3 days hanging out with you and your fun family!

The RUI resort beach provided a beautiful backdrop for Kyla and Zac’s celebration, with its golden sands and crystal-clear waters. The destination wedding brought a touch of paradise to their big day, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

The wedding was a gathering of family and friends, each contributing their unique sense of humor to the mix. From the ceremony, with Zac’s dad acting as the celebrant, to the dance floor, joy and laughter echoed throughout the day, creating a light and enjoyable atmosphere.

Mount Stuart is my favorite venue I’ve ever photographed.  It’s not hard to see the venue is uniquely remarkable and is a photographer’s dream.  The staff is the most wonderful I’ve encountered in the UK.  They are relentless at pleasing their guests as well as vendors.  I couldn’t ask for more accommodating people who are kind enough to always let me indulge my creativity.

The day was perfect and tranquil.  I love intimate weddings because I get a chance to talk to and get to know all the guests.  I think they are better fro the couple as well because they let them spend time with every guest.  A stark contrast to traditionally large weddings where they barely have time for 2 minutes with each guest.

The entire wedding party was gracious and kind to me.  Claire was soon ready and had a stunning timeless glamour look.  The ceremony was a beautiful one.  After the bride & groom and all their guests enjoyed canapés.  After the wedding, we took a walk in the beautiful brisk afternoon.  It was certainly a cold Scottish day and both were patient with my ideas.  Afterward the photos I got to do something I had never done before. After many years of visiting the house, I accompanied the wedding party and went on my first house tour.  Claire and Tony were a laid-back couple who were a breeze to photograph.  It was a fantastic day and I was honored to capture their memories.

Recently I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Claire & Tony at Mount Stuart on Scotland’s picturesque Isle of Bute.  A lovely down-to-earth couple whose wedding day proved to be a relaxed and joyous occasion.

I hold a belief that emotion is better revealed through black-and-white photography.  While I love color, at times it can also be a distraction from the moments.  The majority of my favorite photos from this day ended up being black and white.

Part 1 of Annierose & Conors wedding

After the ceremony the party was underway.  There was tennis and jenga enjoyed by all.  The wedding breakfast was beautifully catered.  Thanks to the couples patience to my enthusiasm combined with it being a small wedding I was afforded the luxury to whisk them away on a multiple occasions and make the most of the gorgeous surroundings.  The day flew by and soon they were cutting the cake and the band prepared.  Their first dance was the precursor to a lively dance floor enjoyed by all attendees.  It was a perfect ending to a extraordinary day.

The following day I had a lovely wood fired pizza lunch with the wedding party in the walled garden.  On wedding days I tend to be rather busy and unable to chat much, the following day provided a wonderful opportunity to be social and a chance to get to know the families better.

I had a slight accident with my own drone just days before the wedding and her father Donald was kind enough to let me borrow his.  The following day he was also kind enough to help his daughter get into the flower pond for one of my crazier ideas.  Truly Annierose couldn’t have been more adventurous rocking the frock as she was whiling to lay down in the pond.  The sun came out as well for a wee bit and we got a couple more photos of them.  It was a wonderful few days joining two delightful families.
